There needs to be more hours in a day, I don't have enough to do all I need to do damn it! That plus I need to feel less tired at the end of the day. There is a lovely frost today, what a relief from rain, rain and more rain. However that does mean I can't go digging hardcore for the paths (what a shame) until it thaws out a bit. So I have been doing emails which I am well behind on.

One does wonder about the morons who send these numerous emails to try and ruin your computer or life, they do seem remarkably stupid. Nat West have just told me they had closed my account - I don't have one at Nat West, so there is one for the bin. I have the usual adverts for viagra, but I am female plus whoever invented the stuff should have asked women if they really do want men to be able to go on for hours - NO!

I probably should have a spam folder, but all too often important emails get lost in them so I don't.

Well Christmas is over and long gone, I had the care of the birds over the period until everyone was back on the 4th of Jan, which would have been more fun if it had not been raining pretty nearly every damn day. I then went to Scotland for a few days to see my sister and have a break, it was lovely to be up there and looked after and I bought a really nice pair of boots, however it would have been nicer if it had not been raining! But we did go one morning to see their Herdwick Sheep - they are lovely!

We are now in the throes of the massive Hawk Walk revamp and again, at the risk of being boring, the rain has not helped. However on Monday Mark, David and Mitchel Kay came down to help and they were fantastic. All the foundations were completed in two and a bit days, Mike has been helping on the brick laying with Mark and hopefully by the end of today all bar the long stretch of wall on the top side will be completed. I have been clearing behind them and getting the paths at least the lower one back to usable because we have an Owl Evening tonight.

I could wish I felt better for it, I got a letter a couple of days ago about getting a flu jab, but I think it was too late - I have already got it!

The roof is all but finished we are waiting for the scaffolding to be taken away and then it should look lovely. Oppps they are here to take it away - hooray!
So we are getting ready to open with birds. I start on the new Bald Eagle after the new fence is done, all the birds that are either still working through the winter are doing fine. The newer birds for the early part of the year will all come out again once the new fence is in and they will feel secure. It is going to look lovely I think, although you may miss the plants to start with, but I have some good ideas for that as well. And if the cold weather holds we should be fine for February 1st.

Moccas thinks she should be doing demonstrations! And we think she is looking rather splendid as well.

Hello

I have to say that keeping a weblog can at times become compulsive and at other times a chore. Sometimes I am berrated for not keeping it up and sometimes I get wonderful comments from people who follow the news of the Centre.

It is fun to share the daily goings on here, some good and some bad, some funny and some sad, but all a part of our daily lives.
And as I said before its a pretty cool to be here and it is a great place to visit, you should try coming and watching the birds and meeting the staff and of course the dogs.

An interesting video on Lead

An interesting video on Lead

I find it staggering that people who want to hunt don't see the value in changing their ammunition from lead to a safer product. We have stopped using lead in petrol, in paint, in our water pipes, but they still want to use lead - ah well, apparently eating it not only kills birds but leads to reduced intelligence in humans......................

NO ONE is asking you to stop legal and genuine hunting, they are just asking you to change your ammunition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
